Xtramath – a great FREE basic fact site for your children

So at U-Learn a few weeks back I went to a presentation all about using online tools to support literacy and numeracy in your classroom.

One of my favourite websites that I learnt about was

XtraMath is a free online tool designed to help children master their basic facts. The things that are making this site ideal for me to use with my class are:

  • It is FREE!
  • It can be accessed anywhere with an internet connection
  • It connects me with student’s and parent’s
  • It does everything for me – including a letter to send home with the children, a movie to show how to use it and it creates certificates for me to print and sends them to me once one of my children completes a stage.
  • Every week I get an email detailing every one of my student’s progress and where they need support
  • Connect’s parent’s, student’s and me at all times
The children are enjoying the immediate feedback they receive and it is short and sharp – they only need to spend 2-3 minutes a day on it. The parent’s are enjoying the connection to their children’s learning and the children are now accountable to do something ….
I highly recommend you set this up with your class – it is quick and it is easy. The parent’s LOVE this and the children appreciate the extra support and immediate feedback. As a teacher it is the ideal way for me to monitor the basic facts learning in my class and makes it easy for me to identify gaps ….
Here are some screenshots from my XtraMath account ….
Here is an example of a certificate that is emailed to you whenever a child masters a concept

Here is the detailed information that I get when I log in. I can click on anything and it gives me detailed feedback
Here is an example of the detailed information I can get by clicking on a particular child’s name – I can see pattern’s to help inform my teaching.
This shows one child’s progress and what days they logged in – it shows what areas need to be mastered.
