2013 – the year of inspiration (I am back to Blogging!)
So it has taken me a long time to write a post on this blog ….. Lack of inspiration was the culprit …. But here I am in 2013 with a new lease on life – a new wind – a new desire to share my learning as a practitioner …
2013 – the year of inspiration
For me this year started in the best possible way – a change of role. Not just any role change. But at this stage in my career I got the chance to move within my school here in Singapore. My dream job – Head of ICT and Learning Innovation!
My new role this year sees me wearing 2 different hats. My first role is as a classroom teacher for year 5,6,7 technology, year 5 History and helping run a new middle school in a truly inspiring 21st century learning environment. My second role is that of inspirer – this is the part I love.
This role allows me to inspire other to integrate technology into their teaching programmes. I will be running ICT related PD, modelling and demonstrating lessons in classes from preschool-year 7, helping staff include technological elements in their planning documentation, working with student leaders and supporting our community in the use of technology at home to help our students learn!
Term 1 is about 2 things. Number 1 – up skill the staff so they are confident technology users – without this critical level of development we will not develop critical thinking, 21st century learners. Number 2 – get our 1:1 tablet programme for year 5-7 running successfully (I will blog about this soon in more detail). We are supplying all of our year 5-7 students with Dell latitude 10 tablets running windows 8 and have had magnificent support from Microsoft. We know we are one of very few schools taking the leap in this direction, yet we are not worried. This is exciting and an amazing development in the life of my young school.
It is time to turn things around one day at a time – I am inspired and I can’t wait to see where this year takes me.
Watch this space – I am back to blogging!!!
